Bulgaria is one of the oldest countries in Europe with over 1300 years of history. It was part of the Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman empires at some point and due to its geographical location, Bulgaria is a very diverse and interesting country. This could be easily seen in our culture and furthermore in the culinary traditions of the Bulgarians.
It is a great opportunity to learn more about the land, the people and their folklore, to find out how traditional meals are prepared and nevertheless – the highlight of the day is to taste original specialties and drinks.

We will take you into the countryside – approx. 1.5 hour drive from Sofia, in Plana mountain, to visit a small traditional Bulgarian village, where you see Bulgaria without makeup. Get this unique opportunity to see how the Bulgarian people live and learn more about our culture, history and traditions. During the drive you can also admire the beautiful landscapes of the country. Bulgaria is a small but fascinating country in all four seasons. Our day continues with a visit of a traditional house, where we will find out more about the Bulgarian customs and traditions. The highlight of the day is to taste homemade food. Depending on the time of year, we prepare different seasonal specialties, come to treat yourself and to touch the culinary traditions of the Bulgarians. Original songs and lots of dancing will make this day unforgettable. You will have the option to buy original homemade products like dried mushrooms, raspberry juice, yogurt, spices, honey, wine and others. This is a very unique experience, which will help you to find out more about the country and the people.
We will pick you up from your location in Sofia and then take a scenic drive through the mountains, to reach a small Bulgarian village in Plana mountain with fascinating panoramas towards the highest summits on the Balkans. After 1.5 hour we will visit a traditional Bulgarian house, where we will see how traditional food is prepared and will taste local meals. Later we will dive into the Bulgarian folklore – traditional songs and dancing will be performed. The day continues with interesting and exciting facts about the Bulgarian nature – mountains, lakes, herbs, fungi and flowers – you can find out more about the beautiful nature and diverse species in Bulgaria. Total duration of our stay in the village 3 hours. Then we drive back to Sofia, 1.5 hour.
